PRIVACY POLICY FOR ACADEMIC READING LOG

OVERVIEW

Academic Reading Log is a Chrome extension that helps researchers track academic papers. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

DATA COLLECTION

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. All data you enter remains in your Google account.

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED

• Google Drive Access (drive.file scope): Required to create and save your reading log spreadsheet. We only access files that we create for you (the “Academic Reading Log” spreadsheet). We never access, view, or modify any other files in your Google Drive.

• Active Tab: Required to extract paper metadata (title, authors, DOI, etc.) from the webpage you’re currently viewing.

HOW YOUR DATA IS USED

• Paper information is extracted from webpages and saved directly to YOUR Google Sheets
• Your reading notes and status are stored in YOUR Google Sheets
• We never see, access, or store any of your data on our servers
• All data remains in your Google account under your control

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

• Google Drive: We use Google Drive API to create and save your reading log spreadsheet. We only access the specific spreadsheet file we create for you. Your data is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
• LemonSqueezy: We use LemonSqueezy for payment processing. Your payment information is handled entirely by LemonSqueezy and subject to their privacy policy. We never see your payment details.

DATA SECURITY

Since we don’t collect or store your data, there is no central database to breach. Your data security depends on your Google account security. We recommend using strong passwords and two-factor authentication.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date.

YOUR RIGHTS

You own all your data. You can:

• Delete your reading log at any time by deleting the Google Sheet
• Revoke our access to Google Drive through your Google Account settings
• Uninstall the extension at any time
